do black cats talk more

Do black cats talk more? No is the easy answer, but truth be told a cat being a regular old chatterbox has nothing to do with the color of their fur. Some people have said that they know black cats that are very vocal. On the other hand, there are just as many other people who will say that the black cats they have encountered are the strong silent type.

It Is Not About The Color

As you may expect, many studies have been done to find out what are the most talkative cats.

One interesting thing is that color really does not have much if anything to do with it as it is more about the breed of cat.

For example, oriental and Siamese cats are said to be the most vocal about getting what they want. If they are black or not does not appear to make a difference.

Hey Human, Give Me What I Want!

Black cats are very clever animals and they can learn quite early on that meowing and making noises is an easy way to communicate with us.

When they are next to you, making their cute little sounds. Chances are they are trying to communicate something to you. More than likely that their food bowl is empty!

Pitch Perfect

We all know that black cats and cats in general, are clever, but when it comes to talking, it really does show how well they know us.

It has been said that cats will do a certain type of meow, purr, or even some other strange noise if they know it will get them the response that they want.

Black cats know what we humans like to hear and if that gets them your full attention, you can bet you will hear it a lot.

The Strong Silent Type Or The Chatterbox

Some people who have black cats like to refer to them as the strong silent type that very rarely makes a sound.

This usually is not something to worry about, the cat is probably getting what it wants anyway so talking is not something that it feels it needs to do.

On the other hand, if you have a very vocal cat, there is nothing wrong with that either.

All cats have their own character, some may get your attention by talking nonstop, some with a head butt when you are reading and some by just standing in your presence.

You Always Come Running

One way that all cats will often meow for their human is when they need help.

This can be when they have gotten into a space that they cannot get out of or if they are in some kind of pain.

Cats can use talking as a way of letting us know that they are not ok.

Sexy And Tough Talk

Many black cat parents have said that they have heard some strange sounds coming out of their cats over the years.

This is usually not something to worry about and most of the time it is best described as some kind of mating call.

Female black cats have a very different kind of “meow” when they are in heat.

Male black cats will use their voice to show another cat that they have stepped into the wrong neighborhood or even as a show of affection.

My Thoughts

Our black cat called Coco is extremely vocal!

He meows for food, hugs, to be let into another room and before and after using his litter tray. lol

He is in the habit of meowing non-stop in the mornings now until you go with him to his litter tray.

He loves his routines and when they are disturbed he lets us know via his vocal cords…

He has always been like this and as he displays a lot of intelligence, we always know of Coco’s presence.

So if somebody was to ask me “do black cats talk more?” I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes but that is based on my experience alone.

Some people live with cats that are very independent and want and need their own space.

Coco is the complete opposite and if he’s not getting his own way he’ll definitely let you know!

Do Black Cats Talk More? – Summary

Cats have many different types of meow for many different reasons.
