My Thoughts

We have an American Shorthair called Coco and he has a solid black coat. He features in this blog post and all over the website.

We have been living with Coco for almost 4 years and I haven’t seen him drool once.

My best guess is that black cats are likely to drool just as much as any other cat is and that isn’t very much at all.

There is always going to be an exception to the rule and you may see a cat that drools a lot but in my experience, this hasn’t been the case.

Do Black Cats Drool More? – Summary

Do black cats drool more? No I don’t think so.

There are 22 breeds of domestic cat that can have a solid black coat so I think it would be impossible to say a cat would drool more than any other based on the pigment in its fur.

Unless the cat’s body temperature was a factor and the color of the fur had an impact but I’m just throwing things out there…

I struggled to find any info on specific cat breeds and drooling.

Our black cat called Coco has never drooled in my presence.
