I have to admit I never considered myself to be a cat person whilst growing up.
I didn’t get it, I love all animals but I always saw myself as more of a dog person.
This changed when a cute black kitten basically moved into our home.
This made me wonder, what makes you a cat person?
Here are 5 things that make you a cat person…
Sounds
You can consider yourself a cat person if you appreciate the language of cats.
Did you know that a cat can typically make around 100 different vocal sounds?
From cute purring to meowing for food or for a door to be opened, the cat person will appreciate this communication.
Movement
A cat person can truly appreciate the beauty of a cat walking, cleaning, playing, and stalking.
Many believe that cats are the most elegant creatures and most cat people would have to agree.
Caring
Cat people care deeply for their cats and understand the needs and wants of the feline.
Cat’s may show signs of independence over other animals, however, they need attention and care too.
A cat person can sense what their cat needs or wants at a particular time and will endeavor to find out what the cat needs if unsure.
Patience
Cat people often have to stay in one place or one position for their cat.
Ever thought about getting up off the sofa and your cat decides to sit on your lap at that precise moment?
You may have to stay seated and allow your furry friend to have some purr time…
Personal Space
Cat people understand that cats aren’t like dogs and do not respond to as many commands as dogs do.
Often, if a cat does not want to do something, the cat will let you know.
Cat people get it.
A person with this understanding won’t expect to be followed around everywhere by their pet because cats enjoy their own space and like to do their own thing.
My Thoughts
I’ve been a true cat person for over 4 years now and I believe I always have been deep down, I just didn’t know it.
There are many more reasons and topics that are not mentioned in this blog regarding being a cat person.
Feel free to let me know what I’ve missed and if you agree.
Being a cat person has been nothing but rewarding for me.
I see Coco as part of the family and I feel like I’m a kind of father figure to him.
I get the whole ‘cat mom’ and ‘cat dad’ thing and I never thought I would.
I suppose it’s all part of growing up.
I’m 100% a cat person and I love it!
