do black cats tend to be more vocal

Do black cats tend to be more vocal? Some cats are very chatty and some are more into being the strong silent type.

If a cat likes to make a lot of noise it has nothing to do with the color of their coat.

Some black cats like to be more vocal and others are fine staying quiet. It is more to do with their character than color.

More About The Breed Than The Color

For years, studies have been carried out to try and figure out which cats like to meow and talk the most.

Most of these studies will tell you that the color of the cat be it a black cat or whichever color, has no bearing on how vocal they are.

Most studies point to the fact that Siamese and Oriental cats tend to be the most talkative, but this does not matter if they are black or not.

Pay Attention To Me

Black cats (as are all cats) are clever in that they learn from a very young age that the best way to communicate with a human is by making noises.

When a cat is meowing at you or making some other kind of sound, the cat is trying to get your attention.

No One Knows You Better Than Your Black Cat!

One thing that is very interesting about black cats being vocal is that it shows just how well they know you.

Black cats can figure out what kind of noise can get a certain type of response. So, if they know that a certain sound be it a meow or some kind of purr gets them food, they will do it.

They understand that we like to hear them make certain noises and if that is going to get them what they want, they will certainly use it!

All Black Cats Are Different

If you have a cat who makes very little noise, do not worry. Some black cats like to be more silent than others.

This has nothing to do with the color of their fur, however. It is down to the character of the cat.

Like us humans, some black cats never stop talking and others prefer to keep quiet.

Some Cats Will Call For Help

Even black cats that are often more silent will not be shy about calling for help.

Black cats love to explore and this can sometimes lead to them getting stuck behind a bookcase or something like that.

Cats will meow and call to us if they need us to come and help them.

Love And War!

Black cats as well as cats of other colors are known to make strange sounds when it comes to trying to find a mate.

Female cats have a special kind of meow that lets male cates know they are in heat.

Male cats also can make strange sounds during mating, but they also will make more aggressive sounds as a sign of war if another cat is getting too close!

Do Black Cats Tend to be More Vocal? – My Thoughts

We have an American Shorthair called Coco and he is featured all over this website and on the My Mini Panther social media accounts.

Coco is extremely vocal! He is constantly communicating with us and is always making sounds. Even when he’s sleeping! lol

Coco lets us know that he needs to use his litter tray every single day and even makes an announcement when he’s finished!

He’s a truly remarkable cat and the house seems very quiet when we can’t hear Coco meowing.

Do black cats tend to be more vocal? Well, every cat is different but our black cat definitely likes the sound of his own voice…
